Rhema Otabor, a junior at Nebraska representing the Bahamas, won the women's javelin throw title with a second-round throw of 195-2 (59.49m) at the NCAA Division 1 Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Otabor became the first Nebraska female competitor since Swiss athlete Denise Thiemard in 1983 to win the javelin championship. Nebraska also became the first women's program to produce both the javelin champion and the shot put winner in the same year since Oklahoma in 2012 with Brittany Borman and Tia Brooks.
