NCAA High Jump Champion Christoff Bryan to Leave Kansas State After Three Years of InjuryBy Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor Christoff Bryan's final competition in a Kansas State uniform seems to have been his NCAA championship performance Friday according to SportsMax.tv. The junior won the NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Championships high jump at 7-3 (2.21m) with his second attempt clearance. Trey Culver of Texas Tech finished second with his third attempt clearance. Neither athlete was able to clear the next height, 7-4.25 (2.24m) in the cold and rain at Hayward Field. "I already have plans in place," Bryan said. "I won't be at K-State anymore." Bryan has been hampered by a knee injury, patellar tendonitis, in his three years at Kansas State, an injury that has not successfully gone away. He was already planning to rest this summer to give his knee time to heal and hopefully avoid surgery. That means missing the Jamaican trials for the IAAF World Outdoor Championships. However, now Bryan has opted to end his career at Kansas State. He has not yet decided where he will attend school in the fall. More news |
