It was a little like chasing a ghost.
No matter how fast Texas
A&M and Louisiana State ran Friday evening, it seemed as if the
Arizona State women were just out of reach.
“It’s always a scary
thing,” said the Aggies’ Simone Facey. “They have good throwers. We
have good sprinters. We just have to get as many people through in the
sprints, so we can keep up.”
Facey helped Texas A&M win the
4x100 relay at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, setting a Drake
Stadium record of 42.59 seconds — the second-fastest time in college
history.
It wasn’t enough, however, to overtake the Sun Devils, who scored 20 points in the discus and ended the night with 36.
