In a span of 45 minutes, three Drake Stadium records tumbled.

"I like competing here," Mississippi long jumper Brittney Reese said Thursday after becoming the first event winner of the NCAA Track and Field Championships. "It's a great crowd, gets your adrenaline pumping."

Reese completed a trio of impressive efforts by equaling her season world-best with a leap of 22 feet, 9 inches.

Michigan's Tiffany Ofili set the tone while posting a top qualifying time of 12.73 seconds in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries.
