Slovenian pole vaulter Tina Sutej went over a 2011 world-leading height, and national record, of 4.61m when competing for the University of Arkansas on Saturday.

She added 10 centimetres to her own outdoor national record, set just a week ago, although she had cleared 4.54m indoors this winter.

Into the bargain, Sutej set an American collegiate record at her conference championships in Athens, Georgia.

Sutej, the 2006 World Junior Championships silver medallist, had a clean sheet throughout the competition. She cleared 4.21m, 4.31m, 4.46m and then 4.61m in quick succession, and at the first time of asking, before failing three times when the bar was raised to 4.68m.
