NCAA TRACK RALLY TO BE HELD TODAY (May 12) AT FERRY STREET BRIDGE LOCATION

Eugene, Oregon, May 12, 2010 -- Track Town USA Supporters will hold a Rally today, Wednesday, May 12 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the park land at the Eastside of Coburg Road where the DeFazio footbridge meets the Ferry Street Bridge, to support the 2010 NCAA Track and Field National Championships to be held here in Eugene, Oregon in July.  Scheduled to attend today's Rally are members of both the Oregon Track Club and the University of Oregon Men and Women's Track & Field Teams, Track and Field Officials, numerous Track and Field Volunteers, local business leaders as well as enthusiastic Citizens of Track Town USA!

"Hosting the NCAA Track & Field Championships here in Eugene is of great importance to our community, as it brings in much needed revenue to our local economy as well as it increases awareness of why Hayward Field/Track Town USA is the only place to hold a meet," said Parke Blundon, local business executive and Rally organizer.  "We are attempting to set a Hayward Field attendance record for this meet, which will be held June 9 through June 12.  It will be a sign that Eugene has support for Track and Field events of this size."

Today's Rally is expected to draw triple-digit attendance along with great enthusiasm from Track Town USA supporters, which will encourage a sell-out of Hayward Field for the June NCAA event. To support our local economy and our Track and Field program, tickets can be purchased now for the four-day event.  Single tickets can be purchased starting Friday at 8:30 a.m. at www.goducks.com, by calling 1-800-WEBFOOT, or in person at the University of Oregon Ticket Office, 2727 Leo Harris Parkway, Eugene.
